National Popcorn Day is Sunday, January 19, and movie theaters like AMC, Cinemark and Regal, as well as food brands are celebrating with discounts and freebies.

Cinemark has its own version of BYOB — Bring Your Own Bucket — on Sunday. For $5, moviegoers can fill up their own container. The only limitation is that the bucket has to be 400 oz. or less.

Regal Cinemas: If you’re a Regal Crown Club member, you can get a free small popcorn with the purchase of a movie ticket on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. Plus, all Regal Crown Club members who purchase a movie ticket on National Popcorn Day will be automatically entered to win collectible popcorn buckets for an entire year.

Moviegoers in Lower Bucks County might need to find a new theater ahead of their next viewing after AMC recently announced the closure of a local theater. Philadelphia Mills 14 at the Franklin Mall closed permanently at the end of 2024, the company said. The theater sits in Philadelphia just near the Bucks County border in Bensalem.
