Boeing has made a new contract offer with a higher wage increase and other incentives in an attempt to end the strike. The union will vote Wednesday.

Striking workers at Boeing will vote next week on a new offer that could end a walkout that has lasted more than a month.

Boeing factory workers held a large rally in Seattle to demand a better wage deal, mounting pressure on new CEO Kelly Ortberg to end a bitter strike that has plunged the planemaker further into financial crisis.

Their work stoppage has halted production of the plane maker's best-selling 737 MAX and its 767 and 777 widebodies.

Kelly Ortberg’s earnings debut as Boeing Co. chief executive officer has gained an element of suspense as workers vote on the same day whether to accept the planemaker’s latest proposal and end a five-week-long strike.

Boeing has offered striking machinists a 35% pay rise over four years in a new contract proposal they hope will end a month-long strike. About 33,000 unionised workers, mostly in Seattle, will vote on Wednesday whether to accept the offer from the aviation giant.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers said early Saturday that it plans to hold a ratification vote on Wednesday.

Boeing and its machinists union have reached a tentative agreement that could end a strike that has halted most production in the past month.
