Wipro Ltd shares surged over 5% in early trade on Friday, following the company’s announcement of its second-quarter earnings for FY25 and a bonus share issue. The stock climbed as much as 5.34% to reach ₹557.

Wipro, a major IT company, has announced a proposal for a bonus issue of equity share s. The shareholders will get one bonus equity share of ₹2 for every fully paid-up equity share. Additionally, the company is set to issue one bonus American Depositary Share (ADS) for every one ADS held.

To qualify for the bonus shares, investors must purchase Reliance Industries shares at least one day before the record date.

Shares of IT behemoth and the country's fourth-largest IT company, Wipro, surged nearly 4% today after the company's board of directors approved a 1:1 bonus issue. This also comes on the back of positive Q2 results declared by the company yesterday.

Wipro reported 6.8 percent quarterly growth and 21.3 percent annual growth. The companys net income in the July-September period (Q2 FY25) was at Rs 3,209 crore.

The company announced a bonus issue of a 1:1 ratio, and the record date will be declared in due course. Wipro has a strong track record of paying bonus issues in over two decades.

Wipro announced its previous bonus issue in 2019 in the 1:3 ratio. The stock went ex-bonus on March 6, 2019. Wipro had announced bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 in 2017.

This is Wipro’s first bonus share issue since 2019, when it offered one bonus share for every three shares held. In total, Wipro has issued bonus shares 13 times in its history.

This marks the company’s first bonus share issuance since 2019 and the 14th in its history, solidifying its position as the most frequent issuer of bonus shares among Nifty and Non-Nifty constituents.
