A second police shooting in New York City over the course of last weekend is prompting questions about how a man who investigators believe called 911 over concerns of a possible robbery ended up getting shot by responding officers.

An investigation is underway following a police shooting in the stairwell of an apartment building at 335 West 148th St. in Mott Haven on Sunday.

"Deeply troubling when an innocent man is shot. More efforts should be made about the language gap," Rep. Ritchie Torres said.

Police responding to a report of a stolen AC unit shot and wounded a man who came at them with a knife in his hand at a Bronx Apartment building, the NYPD said.

The 32-year-old man was holding a knife when he lunged at officers inside an apartment building on E. 148th St. near Courtland Ave. in Mott Haven just before 5:40 p.m., police said.

It unfolded as police responded to a call for a stolen air conditioner in an apartment building on 335 East 148th Street.
