A new report from German news outlet Spiegel has revealed that some 800,000-plus owners of VW's electric models had their data exposed earlier this year, including specific GPS coordinates and owner information.

Volkswagen Group has come under scrutiny after a significant data leak reportedly exposed sensitive customer information online for several months.

The data was found exposed on an Amazon cloud server, and contained precise location data on thousands of vehicles.
