Escambia County officials have spent the past week preparing to help residents stay safe, including measures to sand area roads and help those without a home find shelter. Motorists will need to be cautious of the types of hazardous road conditions brought about by the mix of freezing rain, rain and snow as well.

Effective immediately, "all roads and bridges in Santa Rosa County should be considered IMPASSABLE until further notice," Santa Rosa County officials just posted. Members of the general public are advised that when roads and bridges become impassable, all travel should be suspended or delayed.
