Live updates: Death toll rises as fire crews in Los Angeles brace for more heavy winds
The Palisades Fire – the largest blaze – has killed at least five people. The Eaton Fire, above Altadena in northern Los Angeles County, has killed at least six people and burned more than 21 square miles, leaving apocalyptic scenes of destruction.

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,713.4 acres after being active for five days. A crew of 5,123 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 13% of the fire by Sunday evening. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.
