Houthi rebels in Yemen have fired a missile at Israel hours after a wave of Israeli airstrikes hit Yemen's main airport as the World Health Organization's director-general was about to board a flight there.

Houthi forces have launched drones and missiles towards Israel in the past week. Rebel forces in Syria are building a transitional government after toppling the regime of President Bashar Assad in a lightning-quick advance across the country.

Israel says it has hit Houthi targets across Yemen with airstrikes. The IDF says the targets were being used for military purposes and were points of entry for smuggled Iranian weapons.
