Mixon, who still might not be cleared on Sunday when the Texans take on the New England Patriots, hasn’t played since Week 2’s win over the Chicago Bears because of an illegal hip-drop tackle used by linebacker T.J. Edwards.

Mixon, the NFL’s leading rusher in Week 1, exited Houston’s Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears in the third quarter due to an ankle injury. Per both Mixon and Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, the injury was no unfortunate accident. Both claimed the injury was the result of a " hip-drop’ tackle ", a tackling technique recently outlawed by the NFL.
