The wildfires that erupted this week across Los Angeles County are far from contained, but they're already expected to be the costliest in U.S. history and among the worst natural disasters.

Economic losses and damage are an estimated $135 billion and $150 billion, the costliest fire event in US history. Hurricane Helene in six states last fall caused up to $250 billion in damage.

The devastating blazes have killed at least 11 people and incinerated more than 12,000 structures since Tuesday.

The Los Angeles wildfires have devastated most of the Pacific Palisades area, with over 130,000 people forced to evacuate, and over 30,000 acres of land up in flames, only being fuelled further by strong winds.

Celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Tina Knowles, Cameron Mathison, Billy Crystal, Jhene Aiko, Mel Gibson, and Miles Teller have lost their homes in the wildfires in Los Angeles County.
