NFL fans and media cannot resist comparing quarterbacks, especially those of the athletic dual-threat variety. Michael Vick served as the measuring stick for dual-threat signal callers entering the NFL for the longest time, but that has now shifted to the two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.

Jackson has six touchdowns over the last two weeks, including four against the Bengals in Week 5. That was just a warm-up for what he’ll be able to do against a Commanders defense that has allowed the most passing touchdowns to opposing teams.

Daniels is the fully realized version of the NFL’s newfound acceptance and appreciation of mobile quarterbacks. And for that, on Sunday afternoon when he shakes hands with Lamar Jackson, who has helped disrupt the NFL’s conventional way of thinking, Daniels’s first words should be: Thank you.
