Lancashire have secured the IPL partner they wanted to run Manchester Originals as a joint venture, with Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group submitting the highest bid for a stake in the Hundred franchise on Monday.

The RPSG Group secured a 49 per cent stake in the Manchester-based franchise with the highest bid, reportedly worth £116 million.

The RPSG Group, the parent company of the Lucknow Super Giants, participated in a three-hour auction for a stake in London Spirit but ultimately lost. The auction concluded with a Silicon Valley tech firm securing the stake,

The Hundred is a short-form professional cricket league in the UK, organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), where each team faces 100 balls.

Last week, another Indian company, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited, had bought stake in Oval Invincibles.

Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group, which owns IPL side Lucknow Super Giants, has reportedly won the race to run The Hundred franchise, Manchester Originals, alongside Lancashire. RPSG Group submitted the highest bid to acquire a 49 percent stake in the franchise.

RPSG Group, owned by Sanjiv Goenka and IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants' owner, is set to acquire a 70% stake in Manchester Originals for £107 million. This move follows RPSG's recent unsuccessful bid for London Spirit and marks an expansion for RPSG in English cricket.

Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group already owns Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League and Durban Super Giants in the SA20. The Group has now secured stakes in Hundred franchise Manchester Originals.

The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group has acquired a 70 percent stake in the Manchester Originals cricket franchise for approximately 75 million pounds. This transaction marks the first time a majority stake has been bought in a Hundred franchise.
