US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met El Salvador President Nayib Bukele on Monday to discuss migration crackdown.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday called an offer by El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele to house dangerous criminals from the United States in his country's jails "very generous" and said the Trump administration would have to study it.

El Salvador has agreed to take deportees from the United States and violent criminals from U.S. prisons in an "extraordinary migratory agreement," which Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Monday.

Marco Rubio, who is on his first oversees tour as the top US diplomat, is seeking support from countries in the region for the Trump administration's attempts to deport large numbers of migrants.
