Vodafone Idea still offers 3G and 4G services in India. The company is currently testing its 5G services, which will be launched soon. It is also working to expand its 4G network.

This week, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced plans to launch commercial 5G services by March 2025. The operator says its initial rollout will cover all metros and major cities in 17 of India’s 22 telecom circles (essentially licencing regions), beginning with Delhi and Mumbai.

Vi is a late 5G entrant due to its financial woes. Rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel had commercially launched 5G services in October 2022.

The carrier will have 15,000 5G sites by April, major cities in 17 circles to be covered. Vi is also considering fixed wireless access to monetize 5G

As part of its revival plan, Vi raised ₹24,000 crore through equity funding, including ₹18,000 crore from a follow-on public offer

Vodafone Idea plans to launch 5G services in 17 circles by March 2025, starting with Delhi and Mumbai. The telecom operator also aims to expand its 4G coverage to reach 90% of India's population by June next year.
