The New York Yankees are heading to the World Series for the first time since 2009 thanks in large measure to a 10-inning home run from Juan Soto.  The Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians 5-2 in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday night and with the win claimed the series by a count of 4-1.

The Guardians withstood a Giancarlo Stanton home run on Saturday night to avoid elimination. What they could not withstand was a critical error by rookie shortstop Brayan Rocchio and the meltdown of one of the best bullpens in franchise history.

Both bullpens worked scoreless seventh, eighth and ninth innings, and Cleveland pitcher Hunter Gaddis was able to get two outs in the top of the 10th. Yankees right fielder Juan Soto, however, all but ended affairs by clobbering a go-ahead three-run home run to dead center.
