A dead whale has washed up on the beach at Fort Morgan on the Alabama coast. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab confirmed a sperm whale carcass washed up along the shore in Fort Morgan, WKRG-TV reported. Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency officials told the station that crews were responding to calls of a beached whale on Sunday afternoon.

FORT MORGAN, Ala. -- A 40-foot sperm whale washed up on the shore of Fort Morgan on Sunday morning. It was spotted behind the beach club weighing more than 30,000 pounds. The goal for the day was to figure out how and where to move it.

A 40-foot sperm whale was found dead in Fort Morgan, Alabama Sunday morning. Officials removed it from the area and said they would conduct tests to determine the cause of death before burying it on the beach in a couple of days.
