FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell explained why some Hurricane Helene victims received a notification that their temporary housing would soon come to an end.

FEMA posted the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, just before 8:15 p.m., the night before many families would be forced to check out of the area hotels housing them. This is the third extension FEMA has granted displaced residents using the agency’s Transitional Sheltering Assistance program in the last week.
