The death of an Oregon house cat from bird flu and a pet food recall are raising questions about how people can protect their pets.

A big cat sanctuary in Washington state has temporarily closed after a devastating bird flu outbreak killed most of its animals, some rapidly after they developed pneumonia-like symptoms, the director said.
