Boeing Co. and the union representing 33,000 striking workers reached a tentative agreement October 19 on a new contract with help from the White House, underscoring the high stakes to end a work stoppage that has crippled one of the largest U.S. exporters.

Striking workers at Boeing will vote next week on a new offer that could end a walkout that has lasted more than a month.

Boeing and its striking Seattle-area workers have reached a tentative deal to end a more than month-long stoppage, the union said Saturday.

SEATTLE — The Machinists union announced Saturday morning that Boeing has made a new contract offer with a higher wage increase and other incentives in an attempt to end the strike that has paralyzed the company for five weeks. The wage increase comes very close to the union’s initial demand for a 40% hike over four years.

Machinists will vote next week on Boeing's contract proposal with a 35% pay hike over four years and other benefits. It could end a month-long strike.
