JACKSON -- As we near the stretch run of the girls basketball season there are some key games coming up this week. In nonconference action, there is a showdown in Brooklyn Monday between Lumen Christi and Columbia Central as some of the state’s top freshmen players go head-to-head.

County and conference tournaments are well underway, and we’re getting ever closer to the NJSIAA Tournament cutoff. This week is again full of tournament showdowns, key Top 20 matchups and decisive divisional tilts.

Nominees for player of the week for games played Feb. 3-8 are listed below in alphabetical order. Vote for your favorite player or performance in the poll below. The poll will remain open until 4 p.m. Tuesday. Central Dauphin’s Mikayla Matincheck won last week’s poll.
