A second winter storm in as many days is slamming parts of the Midwest before rolling toward the East Coast. Major travel disruptions are likely.

Snow and ice will impact millions across the nation's northern tier this weekend as the latest in a string of winter storms tracks across the country. The system has been named Winter Storm Jett by The Weather Channel. The latest radar shown below shows where snow is falling from Winter Storm Jett from the West to the Midwest and Northeast.

The National Weather Service is predicting up to 3 inches of snow in some parts of central Pennsylvania by Saturday evening.

A mix of freezing rain and sleet is forecast across portions of the central and eastern U.S., the National Weather Service said.

Northern New Jersey could get 2 to 4 inches of snow before a switch to a wintry mix. Heavy rain is expected Sunday.

Storm Jett is ready to make a cross-country trek, bringing snow to the majority of the Northern Tier after getting started on the West Coast midweek.

Tuesday’s overnight storm dropped 8 inches of snow in Galloway in Atlantic County and 7.8 inches in Cape May, the weather service said. There were widespread totals of 6 inches or more in Atlantic County and lighter snow accumulations in central and northern New Jersey.
