The Witcher is in a period of transition right now. While the live-action TV series is shifting to a new lead actor in the role of Geralt as it approaches its finale, the next game will switch things up even more,

"Witcher" diehards might well make do with "Sirens" as a consolation prize. But it does feel like settling for less.

Our Call: Stream It. In The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, heads for the series should enjoy the bloody scrapes and various hero moments where Geralt of Rivia finds himself. As an adult-animated jaunt through the Continent, Sirens also adds a bit to the Witcher’s personal quest for rectitude, and expands on the lore of the land where he travels.

Sirens of the Deep pulls from a familiar legend and its own lore to improve an already modified fairytale. Andrzej Sapkowski, the Polish author who created The Witcher saga in his ‘90s book series, was known to repurpose fairytales for Geralt of Rivia’s adventures,

Like Andrzej Sapkowski's short story A Little Sacrifice, Sirens of the Deep is in some ways a riff on Hans Christian Andersen's story The Little Mermaid. Where Sapkowski's work is often a sort of smirk in the direction of fairytales, Netflix's adaptation folds those references in with a more hopeful tone.
