Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk on Sunday announced that he was delaying the delivery of several Cybertrucks in Los Angeles, in order to help provide internet for Southern California communities who remain without power.

The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team posted a photo on social media showing several Cybertrucks donated from Tesla, which will be used to provide power and free WiFi until power is restored to the sheriff's station.

Elon Musk has a history of involving himself, often controversially, in crises. In recent years, the billionaire has promised to fund fixes to contaminated water at homes in Flint, Michigan, developed a submarine to rescue trapped children from a submerged cave in Thailand (it wasn't used) and experimented with building ventilators for COVID-19 patients during the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak.
