On the main card of UFC 311, we will see a big time lightweight matchup between two top ten lightweight contenders heading in opposite directions. On one hand you have ninth ranked Beneil Dariush (22-6-1) who is looking to snap his losing streak and on the other hand you have Renato Moicano (20-5-1) who is looking to continue his surge towards title contention.

When Arman Tsarukyan pulled out of Saturday’s main event against lightweight champion Makhachev (27-1 MMA, 16-1 UFC), the UFC needed a replacement opponent. The two most worthy candidates were Dariush (22-6-1 MMA, 16-6 UFC) and Renato Moicano, who were scheduled to face each other on the main card.

Renato Moicano was heartbroken after UFC 311. Moicano (20-6-1 MMA, 12-6 UFC) was quickly submitted by UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in Saturday’s main event. He stepped in on 24 hour’ notice to replace Arman Tsarukyan after initially being scheduled to face Beneil Dariush on the same event.

Beneil Dariush was left without an opponent, but Dana White promised to ‘take care’ of him. Grant Dawson put on a dominant display as he outpointed Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC 311. The 23-2-1 lightweight contender picked up unanimous 30-27 scorecards from the cageside judges before using his post-fight mic time to make a call out.

Renato Moicano has offered a unique insight into his quick loss against Islam Makhachev at UFC 311. The lightweight champion was originally booked to face top contender Arman Tsaruykan, but the Armenian fighter withdrew from their title clash on Friday after suffering a back injury while cutting weight.
