All-electric mid-size SUV is part of BYD’s Ocean Series and goes on sale this year – everything we know about the Sealion 7 EV so far

BYD’s next car for Europe and the UK has arrived: this is the Sealion 7. It’s a model that’s already on sale in China, with its Euro-spec version making its public debut at the 2024 Paris motor show.

The new BYD Sealion 7 has been unveiled at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, bringing the Chinese firm’s aquatic-themed EV tally up to three. It’s the largest and most upmarket car that BYD is bringing to the UK for now, sporting trendy coupe-SUV proportions and EV technology shared with the BYD Seal saloon.

BYD has unveiled the Sealion 7 as the next model to join its UK line-up. The mid-size electric SUV will compete with the Tesla Model Y and VW ID4, when it arrives at the end of the year. UK specs are yet to be released but in China, where the model has been on sale since 2023, the Sealion 7 is available with either a 71.8kWh or an 80.6kWh battery.
