The county will open three hurricane shelters beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday. County officials announced those shelter locations Tuesday afternoon ahead of Hurricane Milton's expected impact late Wednesday. The biggest threat is to those living in manufactured or mobile homes, Scott said.

The only time the causeways will close is after a storm, so officials can inspect the bridges for structural damage.
