United Breweries may raise beer prices further in India's Telangana, a top official said, days after the country's largest beer-consuming state permitted brands to do so for the first time in five years.

With the hike, a 650ml bottle of beer is now expected to cost between ₹170 and ₹180, depending on the brand, making Telangana one of the most expensive states for beer consumption in South India.

Telangana government on Tuesday approved an increase in beer prices. The decision, which mandates that existing stock be sold at the revised rates, comes in response to a temporary supply halt by United Breweries,

India's top beer-consumer state Telangana has allowed beer prices to be increased from Tuesday, weeks after a brief halt in supply by Heineken's Indian unit United Breweries over pricing issues. The order also directed that all existing stock be sold at the revised rates from Tuesday.

The Telangana government has implemented a 15% increase in beer prices, effective from February 11. According to a recent government directive, all existing stock must now be sold at the revised higher rates.
