The Central Pollution Control Board warns that an AQI in the 'very poor' category can significantly elevate the risk of respiratory illnesses with prolonged exposure

Delhi's air quality continues to deteriorate for the fourth consecutive day as winter approaches. In Anand Vihar and Akshardham, the AQI rose to 334.

The air quality in Delhi continued to remain in the "very poor" category in several areas on Saturday with a thin layer of smog also engulfing the city while the pollution level in the Yamuna river also rose. Due to smog, residents complained of difficulty breathing and urged the government to take steps to mitigate the crisis.

The drop in AQI levels in Delhi comes nearly two weeks ahead of Diwali. As per the Central Pollution Control Board, the AQI when marked under the ‘Poor’ category can cause breathing discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure, whereas, when under the ‘Very Poor’ category, it can cause respiratory illness on prolonged exposure.
