Tottenham Hotspur have completed the loan signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich until the end of the season. The deal includes an option to buy Tel for €55million (£45.7m; $56.9m) on a six-year contract. Tel is Spurs’ fourth signing of the window after goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, forward Yang Min-hyeok and centre-back Kevin Danso (also on loan).

Mathys Tel was the story of the January transfer window, with the Bayern Munich wonderkid the subject of a thrilling transfer race between several Premier League giants. Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United were all interested in signing the 19-year-old after he decided to leave Munich in pursuit of more regular game time.

Mathys Tel had a number of clubs pursuing him but eventually opted for Tottenham over Arsenal or Manchester United with Bayern Munich's Harry Kane helping to influence him
