Xbox Game Studios head Alan Hartman is set to retire in November, with Rare boss Craig Duncan lined up to take his place.

Structural changes at Xbox continue. The company confirmed this morning that Alan Hartman, the current head of Xbox Game Studios, will retire at the end of this year. In 2023, the former corporate vice president of Turn 10 took over the position from Matt Booty, who is now president of content for Microsoft Gaming.

Rare boss Craig Duncan has been promoted to head of Xbox Game Studios. Duncan, who’s led Rare for nearly 14 years, will replace Alan Hartman, who was appointed Xbox’s studios boss just last year, after previously leading Forza studio Turn 10.
