Mel Gibson’s home in Malibu was destroyed by the Los Angeles wildfires while he was away recording a podcast with Joe Rogan in Austin, Texas, Gibson has revealed. The Oscar-winning actor and director shared the news during a telephone interview with NewsNation’s “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.

The affluent Los Angeles neighbourhood of Pacific Palisades typically has strangers walking around, trying to catch a glimpse of celebrities' houses. Now, though, its streets are filled with firefighters battling a 3,000-acre wildfire that is ravaging the area.

Mel Gibson slammed Governor Gavin Newsom's response to the LA wildfires, joking that tax dollars went to Newsom's "hair gel" instead of fire prevention.
