Dire warnings have been issued for the Los Angeles area after forecasters say there is the potential for the strongest wind event in more than a decade. A "Particularly Dangerous Situation" Fire Weather Warning is also posted as winds could peak near 100 mph.

For the third time since early November, parts of Southern California’s Los Angeles and Ventura counties are under a red flag warning for extreme fire danger.

A "life-threatening, destructive windstorm" is expected to hit Ventura and Los Angeles counties from Tuesday into Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported.
