Storm Éowyn, which struck overnight, caused devestating damage to the €3.1 million Connacht GAA Air Dome, which has proved a huge success over recent years.

Connacht GAA air dome in Co Mayo has been destroyed during Storm Éowyn. The inflated roof of the multimillion pound indoor playing facility was blown down at around 4am on Friday amid gale force winds sweeping the island of Ireland.

The Connacht GAA Air Dome, located in Bekan near Ballyhaunis in Co Mayo, was flattened at about 4:30 am on Friday, January 24 as the record-breaking Storm Éowyn rolled in. “Unfortunately, the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome was significantly damaged by Storm Éowyn overnight,” Connacht GAA announced on Friday morning.

The €3.1 million facility, located at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence, has been destroyed by Storm Eowyn.

Connacht GAA's Air Dome has been destroyed during Storm Éowyn.
