Tropical Storm Oscar brought heavy rains and winds to Cuba, an island already beleaguered by a massive power outage, late Sunday after brushing the Bahamas. It made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph) in the eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo,

Cubans in the eastern provinces of Holguín and Guantánamo braced for a direct hit by Hurricane Oscar on Sunday afternoon. As the Category 1 hurricane made landfall near Baracoa, a coastal in city in Guantánamo province, around 5:50 p.m., most of the country still had no power.

Oscar, which the National Hurricane Center characterized as "very small," is the 15th named storm of the hurricane season.
