There was momentum on J.T. Miller getting traded to the New York Rangers on Saturday, but the deal collapsed per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. Miller was supposedly being held out of Saturday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers while some AHL players in the Rangers organization were scratched.

During Sportsnet's "Saturday Headlines" segment, Friedman reported that the Canucks were close to trading Miller to the Rangers, with talks advancing to the point where the 31-year-old was expected to be scratched from the lineup.

As the trade drama in Vancouver reached a peak, J.T. Miller blocked out the drama for an excellent performance in a win against the Oilers.
