Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, on Thursday evening at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions. He had a sudden loss of consciousness at home, after which he was rushed to the AIIMS Delhi.

Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal described the passing of Dr Singh as a "painful loss" for the nation. Speaking to reporters on Thursday night, Venugopal said, "The last rites of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh will be held the day after tomorrow. We will announce officially."

The Centre has declared a seven-day mourning in honour of former prime minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away on Thursday. The Cabinet will meet at 11 am on Friday to pay tributes to him. Dr Singh's last rites will be conducted with full state honours, the officials added.

Singh's last rites will be held in New Delhi on Saturday with full state honors. His body will be kept for public viewing at his residence, 3 Motilal Nehru Marg. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Singh "one of India's most distinguished leaders,
