As Michigan prepares for a winter storm this week, experts say there are several items you should put in your car now.

A winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 4:29 a.m. EST valid from Wednesday 1 p.m. EST until Thursday 7 a.m. EST for St. Joseph, Branch and Hillsdale counties.

Storm Watch for heavy snow is in effect for all of Southeast Michigan from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning.

Current forecasts show that some areas of Southeast Michigan could get up to 8 inches of snow during Wednesday's snowstorm, with Detroit falling into the 5-7-inch range.
