Barring any last minute meteorological curve balls, Raleigh’s snow drought ends today. Forecasters say a winter storm will arrive in central North Carolina beginning the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 10,

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a winter storm warning that will go into effect starting Friday at 1 p.m. and will last until Saturday 10 a.m.

Snow could mix in as early as 1 p.m. Friday before making the switch to sleet and freezing rain early evening.

Raleigh: Snow and sleet likely before 10 p.m. Friday, then snow and sleet possibly mixed with freezing rain through the night into Saturday morning. Precipitation is expected to stop by around 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by clearing skies and a high around 44 degrees.
