Sam Kerr's sponsors are reportedly sticking by the Aussie football star in a huge boost after her not guilty verdict. But former Matildas player Elissia Carnavas has suggested it might be best for all parties if Kerr decides to relinquish the captaincy rather than having it taken away by Football Australia.

Matildas captain Sam Kerr says she’s looking forward to putting a challenging period behind her, after she was found not guilty of racially harassing a London policeman. The 31-year old insists she did not intend to insult or harm anyone when she called the officer "stupid and white".

The Football Australia hierarchy is yet to decide whether or not Sam Kerr will keep the Australian captaincy after a UK court found her not guilty of racially harassing and insulting a white police officer.
