Members of the Texas Senate and House filed joint resolutions this month proposing amendments to the state's constitution that would allow the legislature to legalize and tax "casino gaming and sports wagering.

A Texas lawmaker Wednesday (12 February) filed a proposal that would allow for sports betting, though it's unclear if digital is included.

After passing a Texas sports betting bill in 2023, the House sees a new bill introduced while the Senate remains an uphill battle.

A similar proposal has also been filed in the Texas Senate, but could face headwinds as gambling-related bills have drawn pushback from lawmakers in that chamber.

This is the third session, deep-pocketed gambling interests have looked for wins in the GOP-controlled Texas Lege.

Sports betting bills moved forward in Texas and Oklahoma this week, but both have a long way to go before becoming law.
