Saying he is “just not ready,” golf superstar Tiger Woods announced Monday morning that he will not play in this week’s Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Club. Woods had committed last week to play in the Genesis, where he serves as tournament host. His decision to play came just days after Woods announced his mother, Kultida, had died.

On Friday, Tiger Woods created a buzz when he formally committed to playing the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, his first appearance at a PGA Tour event in San Diego since 2020. On Monday, Woods announced on social media he was withdrawing from the tournament.

The tournament benefitting Tiger Woods’s foundation was moved from Los Angeles to San Diego due to the wildfires.
