Aug 10, 2018 · Plenty of bear in the mountains. Have a look at the map of the bear reserves and hunt the edges. But more here are killed with dogs. But I've seen many but didn't kill them without. You cannot bait any or your truck will be the property of the state along with your gun. And jail time will absolutely happen. They don't play when it comes to bear.

Aug 11, 2020 · You can hunt hard or you can hunt easy. Both can be productive. Theres old men in these hills that still get it done every year who have learned their go to spots that work every year. Oh it might take 'em 3-4 all day sits, but they get it done. I like the backcountry and the climbing, but I've seen just as many bear within 1/2 mile of the truck.

Aug 5, 2010 · Keep in mind if you hunt the wilderness area that wheeled carts aren't allowed, but if you hunt the wma outside the wilderness you can use carts. the last time we drug a bear out we had carried in a small tarp folded up approx 8 x 8. then rolled the bear up in it, tied it and drug the tarp, it slid easier and protected the bears skin. pic below is my son with a bear on cohutta …

Jan 3, 2015 · Always hunt bear in the fall because their fur coats are really good then. In the spring the coats can be ratty, missing hair, etc. Now for hunting bear I would recommend going someplace where bear are plentiful, where they can be baited legally allowing you to judge several or many bear before shooting one.

Feb 1, 2024 · Update on Maine bear hunt, went with Tomah Mountain outfitters in Topsfield, Maine and couldn’t be any happier with the experience. A family run outfit who worked extremely hard to put us on bears. Three of us came up and all three of us got a bear. Nice cabins to stay in and fresh cooked meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
