In 2024, the network will launch a pilot study, known as the Vanguard Study on Multi-Cancer Detection, to address the feasibility of using multi-cancer detection (MCD) tests in future randomized controlled trials. MCDs are blood tests that can screen for several types of cancers.

CCR brings together NIH expertise in the basic and clinical science studies of rare tumors to identify and more effectively translate potential new therapies. Working with the NIH Clinical Center, we bring together patients from around the world who share rare disease diagnoses.

Katrina Goddard and Philip Castle from NIH set out to better understand the contributions of prevention, screening, and treatment to the observed drop in cancer mortality. They used models developed by the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) through 2020.

Our highly trained physicians develop and conduct a wide range of clinical trials in a quest to develop the medicines of tomorrow for patients with cancer, HIV or immunodeficiency disorders. All of our trials take place at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD, the world's largest research hospital, and through telehealth.
