Dec 6, 2024 · Steam overlay isn't usable on the generic proton 9.0.3 fwiw - no noticeable lag on a nvidia 3060/i7-8700k in Xwayland though that's good to know; may have to try proton-ge later. I guess because this is actually just Steam wrapping the Path of Exile launcher inside of proton(?) No time for debugging now that servers are live though :P

Nov 26, 2024 · Given that PoE 1 runs well on Linux and Steam Deck, it has a Vulkan renderer, and AFAIK there is no intrusive anti-cheat, there is a pretty good chance it'll work just fine on Day 1. Though if it doesn't I will have to reinstall Windows just for this game until they have sorted their Proton compatibility. No way in hell I'm gonna be able to wait.

Dec 18, 2024 · I've never crashed. But I did notice after 100 hours that switching to DirectX from Vulkan is a lot smoother on my Linux setup. Which is weird because it was the exact opposite on PoE1. Performance wise it's mostly the same between Linux and Windows. The CPU intensive spikes on Windows aren't that prevalent on my Linux system though.
