Norwalk is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 102,773 at the 2020 census. [6] Founded in the late 19th century, Norwalk was incorporated as a city in 1957. It is located 17 miles (27 km) southeast of downtown Los Angeles and is part of the Greater Los Angeles area.

Long identified by its iconic water tower, Norwalk is the 14th most populous city in Los Angeles County, 58th in California and the 255th nationally. The five-member Norwalk City Council acts as the city's chief policy-making body.

Norwalk, city, Los Angeles county, southwestern California, U.S. Located 17 miles (27 km) southeast of Los Angeles, the city was originally inhabited by Chumash Indians. The area was once a part of the Rancho Los Coyotes, a subdivision (1834) of the 1784 Spanish land grant known as Rancho Los Nietos.
