I really like concept, because it mixes the reliability of a midlength gas system, but it still has look of a dissy. That said, the 3rd option would be to just forget the whole dissipator business, and just build a standard 20" A2 rifle.

Sep 6, 2007 · BM dissipator bbl assy is probably the most reliable as you will have no probs with the carbine gas system on the 16" bbl. Some folks have had problems with the full length gas system on the 16" bbl, like short stroking in colder weather and will recommend going with the Bushy style setup.

The front sigh base was canted, but I didnt realize it until I was 1800 miles away and I noticed my Troy rear sight had an unusal amount of windage applied. I ended up pulling the barrel and rebuilding the upper anyway after I got over my Dissipator interest.

Oct 24, 2022 · Bushmaster created their "Dissipator" with the Front Sight Base on a non-functional FSB using full sized rifle handguards but used a carbine length gas system hidden under the handguards (low profile) to due to the gas curve. It makes the set up heavier with TWO gas blocks but weight if forward on the barrel which makes it feel "stable".

Oct 11, 2015 · A Dissipator originally was based off of a 16" barrel with a rifle length gas system. Bushmaster made a few like this many years ago. Colt was the first to introduce a Dissipator type M16 about 50 years ago. It was called the Model 605. It actually had a 15" barrel with a rifle length gas system. It was Colt's first attempt in making a carbine.
