Nov 10, 2024 · Like goon mentioned they are comparable to the HBC blankets but there are subtle differences like dyes and blends of wool used to make the blanket. Witney Point blankets are better suited for indoor use IMO, the furry nap is a bit more fragile compared to the HBC. This is from the blends and grades of wool used. Always 100% Merino.

Jun 22, 2015 · Yes. Hbc point blankets are made of 100% wool and are pre-shrunk as part of the manufacturing process. So you can hand wash your blanket in a gentle detergent like Zero or Woollite. The trick is in the drying. You must gently press or blot the water out by wrapping it in towels: NEVER WRING THE BLANKET.

Feb 19, 2021 · The 100 0/0 wool is the best choice despite the extra cost for the higher quality. The recycled wool/cotton blanket may be quite adequate for home use but the cotton content renders it unsuitable for bushcraft use.

Feb 1, 2014 · Griz, the whole point of owning a HBC brand blanket is to have a connection in your hand going back to the fur traders. Granted, the best most of us can hope for is a vintage HBC blacket at a used store or flea market rather than a high priced one made today, rare is the HBC blanket that is actually from the fur trader era.

Many are still around today but worn thin, remember these things can last forever. The wool blends were better and the blankets hand finished to create that furry nap.

Jul 25, 2009 · Sadly yes when anything fetches a decent price, it gets knock offs and fakes. Point Blankets are no different. Now some are just miss understanding by inexperienced buyers, point blanket does not mean HBC. There are a lot of different companies making or have made point blankets. Some companies though did and do fake HBC tags.
